Lacquer Conservation & Restoration
Subject expertise is established before any intervention followed by folder pictures showing the progress of the work.
Conservation : maintenance of the object in its current state can be considered to not alter its history through interventions that are deemed inadequate even clumsy and thus prevent further damage. A consolidation of the materials used and appropriate cleaning are performed in order to halt future degradations and preserve what remains of the objet.
Restoration : the current state of the objet can be improved by the use of products reversible without damaging the preserved old parties, allowing a wider aesthetic reading of the original beauty of the object. Another approach to restoration may also be proposed by reusing the same materials as those original namely natural lacquer Urushi, wherever possible, to avoid differences in aging and incompatibility between materials not offering the same features, not to mention the non-reversible nature of lacquer Urushi.
